I have worked in an MLM company dealing with water purifiers. Their machine was able to create water that does not contain any form of contaminant in it. And it costs a hefty price of $2200.
It was said that I can be a sales manager if I were to sell 5 of this set I a time frame of 90 days. So I started to talk to my parents about it and wanted to convince them into buying the machine for their health.
Well, I thought that it could really be a good thing by asking my parents to buy the product so that they can take care of the health!
In fact, my mum had a talk with me and questioned me about the sincerity of doing that. She asked me why am I digging money from her when I’m working. I felt really bad and left the company.
My elder sister soon joins in another company that deals with health products. She forced some of my relatives to buy them and told them that ‘it is because I care for you, so I introduce this to you”.
Is that really care and concern that we are all looking for? Do MLM companies really want to foster family ties?
Another thing is that when I was brought to several companies, the companies said ‘if you want to start enjoying time with your family, earn your million here and you can start enjoying’.
Is that really what it means?
I’d really wish to ask how MLM worked out for many people since almost everyone has been exposed to such things already. It will be more appropriate if there will be courses in NUS to show us the pros and cons of joining an MLM company and work for them. I believe by having such clear research and teaching of the students in NUS, they will be more careful and selective if they were to have any interest in such opportunities in time to come.
My research topic will be "Should NUS increase the awareness of the different consequences of joining an MLM company?"
The research objective is to analyze the awareness of MLM companies within NUS community.
It will be addressed to the OSA so that they can bring some courses to NUS to educate the people in here, so that students will get more understanding of how MLM companies work.
