Throughout my 4 years of my life in NUS, I've heard of how tough project work modules were, but never did I thought that project modules could be tough too.
I've extended my course of study because I wanted to try out project modules, and wanted to try doing all project based modules in a sem. I've never done it before and certainly it is a great learning experience.
Handling with people relations has always been a customer to salesperson relationship to me. I've never worked in a team before because of the idea that working in a team may bring the workload lesser. Now when I come to this, I realized that working in a team can be quite tough too.
Most of the people will think that they are working more than the others, but in fact, how can we really judge? Is it by the effort they put in or the magnitude of work they did? How can we bring judgement to someone when we do not know what they are capable of? These are the questions that came up to me when handling this project under professional communication.
When I was back in army, we had this manpacking exercise. Each man has to carry 60KG of weights and walk for 6km. When one out of the seven man falls down, the remaining six must help him split his 60KG and carry on the walk. This increases the burden of each person and subsequently tires the us out. It was then when I learnt that I cannot succumb to any temptation to stop working unless I want to be a black sheep myself.
Same goes for this project. When I saw those teammates trying very hard to complete and I have the tendency to think that whether I should stop working, I thought of the army exercise and then went on and do it no matter how late in the night it is. This is how I got through this time-constraint project work, and I really thank those that complete the project with me too!
Problems I encountered:
- I always tend to judge who does things more
- When I have to double up and do things, I tend to give up.
